Tanzania is well placed to succeed as an Afrikan investment growth center given its natural resources and its  recent relatively stable government and legal system.

Tanzania has struggled with economic development between the 60's and 90's but now has an outlook which is far more positive after widespread and far reaching business and economic reforms largely brought about by conditions associated with IMF loans. Apart from these sound reforms the country enjoys good prosspects because of an upward trend in it's natural resource exports.

Western investors will pleased to realise that Tanzania's legal system is based on English common law. It is a mixture of common law and the Zanzibar constitutions of 1977 and 1985.

Again as in the western business world the primary forms of business structures in the country are  sole proprietors, partnerships, joint ventures, corporations and registered branches of foreign companies. 

A foreign investor who was considering the introduction of a significant project which was conceivably of genuine importance to the Tanzanian economy might qualify for specific tax concessions.

Such a qualification if it were to be approved would be under the jurisdiction of the Minister of Finance through the Tanzania Investment Centre which is the regulatory and approving body for the overseeing of investment in Tanzania.

Tanzania is a storehouse of great natural resources including the prrecious metals such as Gold and Diamonds. The current high prices for these rare minerals stands the country in good stead as does the expansion of it's natural gas reserves. Tanzania is also known for it's Tanzanite gemstones.

One of the challenges facing the country will be to grow and secure it's power generation capacity to fuel the growth of national industry. Crippling shortages in earlier years held back economic growth somewhat.
